Extrusion VS Rotary Granulation

In the process of chemical fertilizer manufacturing, various powders, small pieces, aqueous solutions or melted raw materials are made into particles with necessary appearance and compressive strength. According to the chemical properties of raw materials, efforts should be made to reduce dust pollution, improve performance and improve production and processing effect.

According to the fertilizer manufacturing process in granulation, according to the different aggregation methods of the initial ultrafine particles, the processing technology of the granulator can be divided into extrusion granulation, rolling granulation, spray granulation, hot melt making and fluidized granulation. Pressure granulation and rolling granulation are two common methods of fertilizer production. What is the difference between the two fertilizer production methods?

The pressure granulation method limits the powder form in the closed internal space, releases the external force, and improves the compactness of the material. Pressure granulation can be divided into two types, one is compression molding granulation, in which raw materials are placed in a closed mold cavity and extruded into a cylindrical belt according to repeated movement. The other is double roller granulation, which is commonly used in double roller granulator. In the process of sand pressing, raw materials are crushed, granulated and screened. With the popularization of rollers, materials are formed.

Rolling granulation is to infiltrate the binder into the fine powder on the solid disk to produce micronuclei. The rearranged particles are rolled many times and then become spherical particles of a given size. The equipment of roller granulator usually includes disc type fertilizer granulator and rotary drum granulator.

Granulator is an important part of fertilizer processing technology. In order to save costs, some enterprises usually only choose the appropriate granulation equipment for production. Therefore, granulator is not only used in industrial field, but also used in chemical industry and agriculture. According to the market application, granulators include fertilizer granulator, sawdust granulator, plastic granulator, pulverized coal granulator, etc. Understanding the different granulation methods in fertilizer production is helpful to purchase appropriate granulation equipment.
